At a special ceremony at the Old Custom House, bursaries were awarded as part of the Ipswich Heritage Harbour Project, supported by the Ipswich Maritime Trust and The National Lottery Heritage Fund.

Maritime Training: 12 students are gaining hands-on learning and sea-time experience.

The Big Voyage: Six students from Ipswich Academy are preparing for a life-changing five-night voyage aboard the Morning Star. They’ve already mastered a day sail on our very own River Orwell.

For some, this is more than just learning to sail—it’s a massive personal milestone. As one student shared: “I’m really excited. I’ve not been away from home that long before.” Fair winds and following seas to all the bursary winners!
