A Message from the Principal

Year 11 exams have started and therefore exam season is now upon us.

I am sure you, along with the rest of the school community, will wish the year group the best of luck for the next few weeks.

Upon being appointed I made clear my desire to make this school as inclusive as possible and give everyone the opportunity to a great education. I remain committed to this vision. Unfortunately I have found that some students have not been as committed as I am. I have written a separate letter to all parents/carers outlining my expectations and stance on this. I have decided to send this to everyone so that everyone is clear. Please check your emails for this letter.

As part of being inclusive, I was keen to increase our offer before school. I am delighted that students are taking us up on the offer of attending our early morning club. As a reminder, the school is open from 7.30am. Year 7-10 can come into the blue canteen and year 11 in the study hub.

Rugby Success: Freya’s Journey to England Trials

We are thrilled to celebrate the incredible achievements of Freya (Year 11) in the world of rugby.

A dedicated player for the U16 Girls at Ipswich Rugby Club, Freya has become a regular standout on the pitch, frequently earning “Opposition’s Player of the Game” honours.

Her hard work has led to a meteoric rise this season. After being selected for the Eastern Counties squad – beating out over 200 other players for a spot in the final 52 – Freya caught the attention of the RFU Player Development Group (PDG).

Following her “Player of the Year 2025” award last season, Freya has continued her momentum by being named the Coaches’ Player of the Year 2026. Her commitment to both her on-field skills and her fitness in the gym has now earned her the ultimate opportunity: a nomination for the England Under 18 Trials this August.

Congratulations, Freya! We look forward to cheering you on as you trial for the national setup.

Suffolk New College are running creative workshops over the May half term.

All sessions are free at their Ipswich Campus. Please download this flyer for more information and details on how to book.

Get ready for the school discos in July!

We are excited to announce our upcoming school discos, and we want to see as many students there as possible!

To celebrate the hard work and dedication of our school community, we are offering a significant discount on ticket prices for students who consistently demonstrate excellence in their daily routines.

How to secure a discount

Students can qualify for a reduced ticket price by meeting the following criteria:

  • Perfect attendance and punctuality: attending school every day and arriving at all lessons on time.
  • Positive learning behaviour: consistently showing a great attitude and high engagement during lessons.

We want to reward those who show up and give their best effort every single day. Let’s make these events really memorable!

Useful Tips for Parents/Carers

Safeguarding

Pay Attention to School Performance:

A sudden drop in grades might mean your teen is finding something hard, whether that be in their learning or socially. Ask how school is going and if they need help with anything. Let the school know so we can offer additional support where needed.

Attendance

Monitor School Communications:

Stay up to date by regularly checking emails and messages from the school. This ensures you’re aware of any upcoming events, deadlines, or attendance concerns.

Reading/Literacy

Visit the Library Together:

Make regular trips to the library to explore different types of books. Giving your child the freedom to choose what they read can motivate them to enjoy reading more.
