A Message from the Principal
As three of our Academy Council parent members have children in Year 11 who will be leaving Ipswich Academy this year, we are looking to recruit some new members.
Academy Council members would be expected to serve for a period of two years.
The Academy Council is responsible for facilitating communication between the parents/carers of pupils at the Academy and the Principal. Academy council meetings are held once every term. All parents/ carers are invited to these meetings. A letter with further information will be sent out to all parents shortly.
We have recently reviewed our Admissions policy, and it has been revised to improve clarity, with no changes to the admissions criteria or process.
The specific areas updated relate to:
a) clarification of how applications would be prioritised within the sibling oversubscription criterion, if required
b) additional information to help parents understand the process for requesting a school place outside the normal age group
The revised policy will be available on our website.
Shaping Futures: Our Careers Fair
On Wednesday, our school hall was buzzing with ambition as we hosted a wide range of local further education providers and employers for our Careers Fair.
Students from Years 9, 10, and 11 had the opportunity to explore various stands, engage with industry professionals, and discover the diverse pathways available to them after their GCSEs. Whether they were looking into A Levels, vocational college courses, or apprenticeships, it was a fantastic chance for them to see the world of opportunity right on their doorstep.
The energy in the room was brilliant, and it was wonderful to see our students asking such insightful questions. We are confident thatthe event has sparked new ideas and helped many students clarify their next steps.
“It was inspiring to see so many local businesses and colleges working together to support our students’ aspirations. The enthusiasm from our Year 9s through to our Year 11s was truly impressive.”
Thank You: We would like to extend a huge thank you to all the providers who joined us for their time and expertise. Most importantly, well done to our students for their professionalism and curiosity throughout the day.

Useful Tips for Parents/Carers
Safeguarding
Talk About Sharing Explicit Photos
If your teenager is sending or being asked for explicit photos, they may not fully understand the risks. Have an open conversation about the dangers and legal implications of sexting. Encourage them to come to you or a trusted adult for help, and inform the school so we can provide additional support and guidance.
Attendance
Prepare for School the Night Before:
Help your child pack their school bag and lay out their uniform before bed. This makes mornings less stressful and avoids any last-minute rush.
Reading/Literacy
Create a Reading Routine:
Set aside time each day for your child to read, whether it’s before bed or after dinner. Regular reading strengthens literacy skills and develops a love for books.
