A Message from the Principal

Our Year 11 students are now halfway through the GCSE exam season, having completed 20 exams over the last two and a half weeks.

Their behaviour throughout has been exemplary; they have worked incredibly hard and are treating the entire process with the seriousness it deserves. We are all immensely proud of them!

We wish them a restful yet productive half-term break, and we look forward to seeing them return refreshed for the final two weeks of exams. Well done, Year 11!

I extend the wish of a restful break to the rest of the students, it’s been a busy half term that has flown by and we have all earned the break.

Half term is a great time to ensure that your child has what they need for when they return to school. Please support us by ensuring that your child has all the necessary stationery, uniform (specifically their tie, school jumper and plain black shoes/trainers) and their school planner.

It would also help us massively if parents can use the My Child at School App with their child the night before or each morning to go through their child’s timetable. We issue timetables at the start of each term but some do get misplaced. It is absolutely essential that students are organised and prepared for the day. Please go through your child’s timetable with them.

Shout out to our amazing Year 7 Brass students!

Last week, our beginners took part in a special workshop designed to boost their confidence as they start their musical journeys.

Learning a brand-new instrument takes a lot of grit, and we are incredibly proud of the resilience and determination these students are showing every single day. A massive thank you to our brilliant Brass tutor, Mr. Shepherd, for running such a fantastic event and inspiring our young musicians!

Get ready for the school discos in July!

We are excited to announce our upcoming school discos, and we want to see as many students there as possible!

To celebrate the hard work and dedication of our school community, we are offering a significant discount on ticket prices for students who consistently demonstrate excellence in their daily routines.

How to secure a discount

Students can qualify for a reduced ticket price by meeting the following criteria:

  • Perfect attendance and punctuality: attending school every day and arriving at all lessons on time.
  • Positive learning behaviour: consistently showing a great attitude and high engagement during lessons.

We want to reward those who show up and give their best effort every single day. Let’s make these events really memorable!

Useful Tips for Parents/Carers

Safeguarding

Be Aware of Substance Abuse:

If you find signs of alcohol or drugs, your teenager may be experimenting. Talk to them about the risks and encourage safe choices. If you’re worried, let the school know so we can arrange support.

Attendance

Be a Role Model:

Show your child that you value education by being positive about school and prioritising it in your daily routine. Children often reflect their parents’ attitudes towards school.

Reading/Literacy

Limit Screen Time, Increase Book Time:

Encourage your child to swap some screen time for reading. Explain how reading benefits them in school and helps expand their imagination.
