A Message from the Principal

Year 11 exams, unbelievably start next week with Film Studies on Friday.

The year has flown by and we now are entering the business end of the school year.

I’d like to wish every year 11 student the very best of luck, I know they’ll make us all proud. The entire school community is here to support them throughout this period for them.

To make the year as relevant as possible right to the end, we’ll be redesigning their timetables so their lessons remain relevant up to their final exam.

After their exams are completed, the staff at IA look forward to celebrating year 11’s graduation at their assembly and prom.

Journey into History

Year 7 Visit Norwich Cathedral (part 2)

On a sunny Wednesday, our Year 7 students traded their textbooks for a day of immersive learning as they visited the historic Norwich Cathedral.

While some of the year group had the opportunity to visit previously, this trip ensured that the rest of our Year 7s could experience this local treasure firsthand. As one of the finest examples of Norman architecture in the UK, the Cathedral provided a spectacular backdrop for students to see their classroom studies come to life. Throughout the day, the group explored the soaring arches and intricate stonework that have defined the city’s skyline for over 900 years.

Highlights of the Visit:

  • Building for Power: Our students investigated Romanesque architecture, discovering how the Normans used massive stone arches and grand designs to project strength and religious devotion.
  • Stories of the Past: Expert guides brought the Norman Conquest to life, sharing fascinating stories about how the arrival of the Normans forever changed our local area.
  • A Glimpse into Faith: Beyond the history, the group explored modern Christian traditions and the quiet rhythms of life within the Cathedral community today.

The students represented the school brilliantly, showing great curiosity and respect throughout the tour. A special thanks to the education team at the Cathedral for hosting such an enriching experience for the second half of our Year 7 cohort!

Get ready for the school discos in July!

We are excited to announce our upcoming school discos, and we want to see as many students there as possible!

To celebrate the hard work and dedication of our school community, we are offering a significant discount on ticket prices for students who consistently demonstrate excellence in their daily routines.

How to secure a discount

Students can qualify for a reduced ticket price by meeting the following criteria:

  • Perfect attendance and punctuality: attending school every day and arriving at all lessons on time.
  • Positive learning behaviour: consistently showing a great attitude and high engagement during lessons.

We want to reward those who show up and give their best effort every single day. Let’s make these events really memorable!

Useful Tips for Parents/Carers

Safeguarding

Look For Eating Habit Changes:

If your child’s eating habits suddenly change, they might be feeling anxious about something. Talk to them about healthy eating and body image. If the changes continue, speak to your GP and let the school know so we can offer support or a school nurse referral.

Attendance

Limit Appointments During School Hours:

Try to schedule dentist or doctor appointments outside school hours. This way, your child misses as little school as possible.

Reading/Literacy

Praise Their Efforts:

Celebrate your child’s achievements, whether it’s finishing a book or improving on spelling tests. Positive reinforcement encourages them to keep working hard on their literacy skills.
