End of Week Newsletter

A Message from the Principal
I want to start my newsletter by taking a moment to congratulate year 11 on completing their GCSE exams and having an enjoyable leavers day where they were able to partake in shirt signing and say ‘goodbyes’ to staff and peers.
The year group has remained resilient throughout and that is something that we should all be proud of. I am looking forward to the graduation assembly and prom on 7 July and 9 July respectively.
As we enter the final straight of the academic year and the summer term, it is very important that students come to school with a bottle of water. It is important that they stay hydrated during the day. Please bear in mind, however, that students won’t be permitted to leave class to fill up water bottles. They can do so at break and lunch time.
It has been just over a year since I joined the school and there have been some changes and there will no doubt be more ahead. One significant change for September is that the school day will now be consistent 8.40-3.10, every day. There is no late finish on a Wednesday from September. Please bear in mind that we will be expecting students to be on site by 8.35 so that they are ready and in their base groups for an 8.40 start. If any parents/carers have students that come to school via public transport, I urge them to explore the timetables closer to the start of the new school year.
Get ready for the school discos in July!
We are excited to announce our upcoming school discos, and we want to see as many students there as possible!
To celebrate the hard work and dedication of our school community, we are offering a significant discount on ticket prices for students who consistently demonstrate excellence in their daily routines.
How to secure a discount
Students can qualify for a reduced ticket price by meeting the following criteria:
- Perfect attendance and punctuality: attending school every day and arriving at all lessons on time.
- Positive learning behaviour: consistently showing a great attitude and high engagement during lessons.
We want to reward those who show up and give their best effort every single day. Let’s make these events really memorable!

Useful Tips for Parents/Carers
Safeguarding
Be Aware of Online Safety:
If your child is talking to strangers online or sharing too much personal information, it’s important to remind them about staying safe. Have a chat about the dangers of online interactions. If needed, reach out to your child’s year team as we can offer guidance and support.
Attendance
Stay Calm During Difficult Times:
If your child doesn’t want to go to school, stay calm and listen to their concerns. Work with the school to find solutions together ASAP rather than letting the problem grow.
Reading/Literacy
Encourage a Love of Writing:
Provide your child with colourful pens, notebooks, or apps to write stories or poems. Writing helps them practice their spelling and grammar while sparking creativity.
