End of Week Newsletter

A Message from the Principal
Just one more week to go until half term, it seems as though we have only just come back to school from the Christmas break! Time flies when you’re having fun, as the saying goes.
I would like to remind all parents/carers of our new punctuality procedures. You should be getting notifications if your child is late to a lesson. I hope this is useful and you can help us by discussing this with your child. There may have been teething issues with this new system at the start of the week but it should be fully up and running now. Punctuality is crucial so that students maximise their learning and time in lessons. I thank you in advance for your support on this.
Year 9 options evening will be upon us very soon. It is a huge milestone for secondary school pupils and one that they should really think carefully about. It is a big decision and we are here to support. At Ipswich Academy we will be running a pathway model. All students will have an element of choice but our pathways are built and designed to meet our students’ academic needs. One child’s pathway may differ from another, this will become clear on Thursday 26 February 2026 at the event.
Upcoming Events

Useful Tips for Parents/Carers
Safeguarding
Look for Low Self-Esteem:
If your teenager talks down about themselves, they may need help boosting their confidence. Remind them of their strengths and how much they’re valued. Let the school know so we can offer extra help and guidance.
Attendance
Be Mindful of Holidays:
Plan family holidays during school breaks rather than term time. Missing lessons due to holiday travel can have a significant impact on your child’s learning.
Reading/Literacy
Make Use of Educational Apps and Games:
Use literacy apps or games that focus on reading, spelling, and writing. These tools can make learning fun and interactive, especially for reluctant readers.
