A Message from the Principal

I am delighted to dedicate this week’s piece to celebrating the incredible success of our recent Music Recital held on Tuesday 25 November.

To all the students who performed – from those who bravely took to the stage for the very first time, to our seasoned musicians who delivered polished and complex pieces – please know that you have made the entire school community exceptionally proud.

Recitals are not simply about playing notes correctly; they are a profound demonstration of courage, dedication, and resilience. The talent on display was undeniable, encompassing everything from beautiful classical piano movements and stirring vocal solos to exciting contemporary ensemble performances.

It takes tremendous nerve to perform in front of an audience, and every single performer showed remarkable confidence and commitment. Your willingness to share your passion and hard work with us is truly inspiring.

My sincere thanks to our dedicated Music Department, Mr Scarce and Ms Race, and their team for their tireless work in nurturing our students’ talents and preparing them so thoroughly for this event. I also extend my gratitude to the parents and carers who attended. Your presence and unwavering support create the encouraging environment that allows our young people to flourish.

The high standard of the recital is a wonderful reflection of the vibrant musical life we cherish here at Ipswich Academy. Bravo to all our performers!

Our mission is to spread a little festive cheer and comfort to young patients and their families who will be spending Christmas in the hospital. We are asking members of the school community to donate what they can for children who won’t be at home this Christmas.

Here’s how you can help:

What to Donate
We are greatly appreciative of donations of any small toys, books, arts, and crafts. Here is a link to help: Amazon.co.uk

IMPORTANT: TOYS MUST BE BRAND NEW, NOT PRE-LOVED.
This is a critical requirement for the hospital.

Donations Due
Please drop off all donations BEFORE 10th DECEMBER.

Drop-off Location
Donations should be handed into the School Reception (during school hours). Every single donation brings a smile to a child facing a difficult time. Thank you for helping us support these amazing young patients!

Useful Tips for Parents/Carers

Safeguarding

Watch for Isolation:

If your teen is spending too much time alone, they might be feeling low or anxious. Encourage time with friends or family and open up a conversation. Keep the school informed so we can offer additional support.

Attendance

Reward Good Attendance:

Celebrate and acknowledge when your child has excellent attendance. A simple reward or high praise can motivate them to keep attending regularly.

Reading/Literacy

Use Everyday Opportunities to Read:

Encourage your child to read recipes, road signs or instructions for games. Real-world reading boosts their skills and shows them the value of literacy in daily life.
