A Message from the Principal
The first half term at IA has flown by and it has been an intense, purposeful but yet enjoyable first half term for me. I want to thank the students and staff for their engagement and efforts this half term and I am looking forward to the rest of the year ahead.
After a half term to be on the ground observing and getting to know the school community, I will be shortly writing to parents regarding some refinements to our processes as I continue to help the school to improve. I hope that you all have an enjoyable half term break.
Excellence in Learning
Out of Hours Dedication
A big shout out to our Year 11 students who have been attending out of school hours interventions. It is encouraging to see them taking every opportunity to improve their GCSE work, in preparation for the mock exams which will take place after half term. We are sure that their dedication will be worthwhile.
History Stars
At IA, we celebrate integrity, excellence and community in all their forms. We celebrate the achievements of Oscar, Luke, Aleeza, Amber, Archie, Ahmed and Ruby, who are our History Stars of this Half Term! They’ve all gone over and above, from 100% attendance at intervention, to producing excellent independent work in their own time. Congratulations to all, you embody the IA Way.
Curriculum Enrichment: Trips and Visits
Year 7s have had the opportunity this week for an unforgettable, award-winning educational experience with Bugfest, the UK’s leading entomological provider!
The students who have attended the Bugfest session have been absolutely hooked, showing incredible enthusiasm and engagement. They have loved the hands-on opportunity to see and touch some of the bugs, from stick insects to giant millipedes, with many showing amazing observation skills and a newfound interest in nature. To learn more about this experience you can visit their website.
Useful Tips for Parents/Carers
Safeguarding
Pay Attention to School Performance:
A sudden drop in grades might mean your teen is finding something hard, whether that be in their learning or socially. Ask how school is going and if they need help with anything. Let the school know so we can offer additional support where needed.
Attendance
Limit Appointments During School Hours:
Try to schedule dentist or doctor appointments outside school hours. This way, your child misses as little school as possible.
Reading/Literacy
Visit the Library Together:
Make regular trips to the library to explore different types of books. Giving your child the freedom to choose what they read can motivate them to enjoy reading more.
