Outstanding conduct

We are delighted to announce that a number of students will be receiving a zero C3 certificate and a sweet treat on Friday 24 October, as a reward for their outstanding conduct.

This recognition is specifically for those students who have demonstrated an ability to go over and above this half term. Being recognised for this is an impressive achievement for students and one that all students should aspire to be rewarded for. If your child receives this award, you should be incredibly proud of this as we are too.

What an achievement!

We are thrilled to announce that Darcie-Leigh Y8 and Gracie Y10 both performed as part of their dance group on stage at the O2 last weekend.

The group were given the golden buzzer which means they have progressed in the competition to dance live on stage in New York in June 2028! They are currently setting up fundraising events to raise funds for their trip to New York, and have a Go Fund Me page here, all support is most welcome.

We are all thrilled with this amazing achievement, and wish them every success in their fundraising and in the competition.

Local Events

On Thursday 16 October, selected students from across all year groups, took part in the Suffolk Schools Cross Country County Championship at the Royal Hospital School. We are proud to have such talented athletes to represent our school!

The National Saturday Club is an established UK-wide network that gives 13 to 16 year-olds the unique opportunity to study subjects they love for FREE, on a Saturday at their local university, college or cultural institution. The Club provides a welcoming space for young people to build their skills, develop their confidence, and discover pathways to further study and future creative careers. With a particular focus on engaging young people from disadvantaged backgrounds and underrepresented communities the National Saturday Club’s established model has proven impact. Applications are now open for our Art&Design and Film&Screen Saturday Clubs at Suffolk New College. The Clubs will run from 8 November 2025 to 13 June 2026, 10:00-13:00.

Upcoming Events

The Year 8 Parents Evening will take place on Thursday 20 November 2025 from 3.45pm until 7.15pm. Add this date to your calendars now – a letter containing booking information will be sent out after half term.

Useful Tips for Parents/Carers

Safeguarding

Look for Eating Habit Changes:
If your child’s eating habits suddenly change, they might be feeling anxious about something. Talk to them about healthy eating and body image. If the changes continue, speak to your GP and let the school know so we can offer support or a school nurse referral.

Attendance

Address Health Issues Promptly:
If your child is unwell, ensure they get the care they need and return to school as soon as they’re better. Regular attendance is crucial, and every day missed can have an impact.

Reading/Literacy

Praise their efforts:
Celebrate your child’s achievements, whether it’s finishing a book or improving on spelling tests. Positive reinforcement encourages them to keep working hard on their literacy skills.
