A Message from the Principal

It was a pleasure to see our students embrace the festivities of Christmas Jumper day and enjoy their Christmas dinner.

It was a nice celebratory event as we draw to the end of the term. It has been a busy term at Ipswich Academy but one that we can all be immensely proud of. My first term at Ipswich Academy has been extremely rewarding.

As a reminder, we close for Christmas on Friday 19 December at 3pm. I will be wishing you all an enjoyable Christmas break and Happy New Year next week but will also take the opportunity to do so this week.

We still have one week to go and one week’s worth of lessons so let’s keep attendance high for the final week. Lessons missed now will have an impact on progress so it’s important to keep working hard right up to the end of term.

Finally, thank you for all of the support during my first term as Principal of IA. I have truly appreciated it.

Christmas Toy Drive for Ipswich Hospital

We are so excited to announce that we have teamed up with REED IPSWICH again collecting toys for their annual Christmas Toy Drive for THE IPSWICH HOSPITAL CHILDREN’S WARD!

Our mission is to spread a little festive cheer and comfort to young patients and their families who will be spending Christmas in the hospital. We are asking members of the school community to donate what they can for children who won’t be at home this Christmas.

Here’s how you can help:

What to Donate
We are greatly appreciative of donations of any small toys, books, arts, and crafts. Here is a link to help: Amazon.co.uk

IMPORTANT: TOYS MUST BE BRAND NEW, NOT PRE-LOVED.
This is a critical requirement for the hospital.

Donations Due
Please drop off all donations BEFORE 15TH DECEMBER.

Drop-off Location
Donations should be handed into the School Reception (during school hours). Every single donation brings a smile to a child facing a difficult time. Thank you for helping us support these amazing young patients!

Useful Tips for Parents/Carers

Safeguarding

Notice Perfectionism:

If your teenager is stressing over being ‘perfect’, they might be feeling pressure to succeed. Encourage them to take breaks and remind them it’s okay to make mistakes. If this continues, let the school know so we can help ease the pressure.

Attendance

Stay Calm During Difficult Times:

If your child doesn’t want to go to school, stay calm and listen to their concerns. Work with the school to find solutions together ASAP rather than letting the problem grow.

Reading/Literacy

Talk About What They Read:

After your child finishes a book or a chapter, ask them to summarise it or share their thoughts. This helps with comprehension and teaches them to reflect on what they’ve read.
