A Message from the Principal

Welcome to our latest newsletter, where we celebrate the fantastic work our students and staff have accomplished this month! We’re excited to share updates on everything from academic milestones to upcoming events designed to enrich our school community.

Year 11 Progress & Progression Evening

On Tuesday 7 October, we welcomed the parents and students of Year 11 to the Academy for a presentation on all things Year 11.

This was then followed by a market stall event with our local post-16 providers. The evening provided the parents and students with all key and relevant information regarding their upcoming GCSE exams and then gave them the opportunity to discuss their post-16 options with multiple local providers.

Year 7 Meet the Teacher

On Thursday 9 October, we welcomed our Year 7 parents to our Year 7 Meet The Teacher event.

This event gave parents an opportunity to meet their children’s teachers and spend some time discussing their child’s start. As a school it’s great to see so many parents/carers and we value your engagement at the start of your child’s journey at Ipswich Academy.

Art and Design Visit

Our Y10 Art and Design students will be visiting Gainsborough’s House in Sudbury on Monday 13 October.

This is a fantastic opportunity to assist students with experiences and resources to develop their coursework. Our artists will have the opportunity to look round the gallery’s collection of artworks and take part in some practical printing workshops.

Useful Tips for Parents/Carers

Safeguarding

Notice Secretive Behaviour
If your teenager is being overly secretive, they may be hiding something they’re worried about. Have a calm conversation to see what’s going on. Let your child’s year team know so we can check in and support them and remind them that free, online counselling is available from to Kooth.

Attendance

Inform the School of Absences Immediately:
If your child is unwell or has an emergency, let the school know as soon as possible. Clear communication helps keep everyone aware and ensures accurate attendance records.

Reading/Literacy

Create a Homework Routine:
Set a specific time and place for your child to complete their homework each day. Regularly checking their work ensures that literacy tasks are completed to a high standard.
